We are looking to source an exceptional welding apprentice for our client Anetic Aid. You will learn how to cut materials using powered tools and thermal processes preparing them for assembly and welding operations. You will learn how to complete manual arc welding processes including Tungsten Inert Gas, Manual Metal Arc and Metal Inert Gas using a range of materials.

As an engineering welding apprentice, this programme will form part of Anetic Aid’s succession planning for the future. You will be trained, supported and monitored throughout.

Training to be provided 

When your formal engineering welding apprenticeship starts, you will be paid and day-released to PETA in Havant for the duration of your programme. This will start by learning how to work safely, efficiently and use technical information. You will also learn how to prepare and use Manual Metal Arc (MMA), Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) and Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding equipment.

Overall duration 15 months.

About the role 

  • You will be planning and preparing to weld materials
  • As a welding apprentice, you will be interpreting technical specifications & drawings
  • You will be checking that materials conform to the specifications
  • As a welding apprentice, you will be preparing materials ready for welding
  • You will be setting the welding equipment, making adjustments as required
  • As a welding apprentice, you will be making joints to the specifications
  • You will monitor the parameters throughout, once complete you will visually inspect the welds
  • As a welding apprentice, you will learn how to take precautions to control distortion
  • Once finished, you will complete documentation related to the production process

Monday 07:30-16:00, Tuesday-Thursday 07:30-17:00 and Friday 07:30-12:30 (37 hours per week). We would encourage early submissions of applications, as these will be considered on receipt and suitable candidates invited for interview. Essential Skills

  • 2 GCSE’s at grade C/4 or above (or equivalents) to include Maths and English are essential
  • Your motivation and drive are the assets that will be best appreciated
  • You will possess good communication skills with the ability to communicate with peers and management
  • You will need to be open minded and willing to develop your knowledge and skills to support your future development

Desired Skills

  • You will have a good level of dexterity hand skills
  • Demonstrate an interest in contributing towards manufacturing mechanical components are desirable
  • You will have good hand to eye co-ordination and hand skills
  • Your logical approach to problem solving will enable you to perform to make a good contribution to all aspects of the job
  • You need to be able to learn through instruction and experience

Benefits

The company offer a Profit Related Pay scheme, you qualify for the scheme from day 1, but will receive your first payment after approx. 6 months of employment. This is not guaranteed and will vary with the overall  performance of the company, however this has typically offered an additional payment of around 20 -30% of basic salary
