We are looking to source an exceptional welding apprentice for our client Company. You will learn how to cut materials using powered tools and thermal processes preparing them for assembly and welding operations. You will learn how to complete manual arc welding processes including Tungsten Inert Gas, Manual Metal Arc and Metal Inert Gas using a range of materials.

As a engineering welding apprentice, this programme will form part of our succession planning for the future. You will be trained, supported and monitored throughout the process. You will learn how to use and prepare Manual Metal Arc welding equipment and MIG welding equipment.

Training:

When your formal engineering welding apprenticeship starts you will be paid and day-released to PETA in Havant for the duration of your programme.  This will start by learning how to work safely, efficiently and use technical information.

Overall duration 15 months

About the role:

As part of the role, day to day you will:

  • You will be planning and preparing to weld materials
  • As a welding apprentice you will be interpreting technical specifications & drawings
  • You will be checking that materials conform to the specifications
  • As a welding apprentice you will be preparing materials ready for welding
  • You will be setting the welding equipment making adjustments as required
  • As a welding apprentice you will be making joints to the specifications
  • You will monitor the parameters throughout, once complete you will visually inspect the welds
  • As a welding apprentice you will learn how to take precautions to control distortion
  • Once finished you will complete documentation related to the production process

8.30-17.00 hrs Monday to Friday, 30 minute lunch break (40 hrs)

Essential Skills

  • 2 GCSE’s at grade C or above (or equivalents) to include Maths and English are essential.
  • Your motivation and drive are the assets that will be best appreciated. 
  • You will possess good communication skills with the ability to communicate with peers and management

Desired Skills

  •  You will have a good level of dexterity hand skills
  • Demonstrate an interest in contributing towards manufacturing mechanical components are desirable
  • You will have good hand to eye co-ordination and hand skills
  • Your logical approach to problem solving will enable you to perform to make a good contribution to all aspects of the job
  • You need to be able to learn through instruction and experience
