A key deliverable in the role of Virtual Support Specialist is to provide a single point of contact within the web chat and other forums to provide support, information and guidance to service users and professionals, ensuring that risks are managed, and that the wider organisation has access to best practice and knowledge. The Virtual Support Specialist also improves access to appropriate services for those with substance misuse and mental health professionals.
This is a great opportunity to impact on quality assurance and knowledge management across the organisation, ensuring that our service users and stakeholders are appropriately supported, and safeguarded.
You will be responsible for developing and disseminating substance misuse information and giving advice on health and social wellbeing in our online settings. You will also moderate Peer Support forums.
The key focus for the role is accessibility of appropriate services, guidance, support and advice in relation to substance misuse and mental health. This involves the provision of structured interventions and / or other psychological interventions.

Essential Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with other professionals and colleagues
- Ability to make decisions when appropriate
- Resilient with the ability to deal with difficult scenarios
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient IT skills in word processing, spreadsheets, Excel, Power Point, use of the internet and email
- OCN / NVQ level 3
- CBA, MI and SFBT training
- Evidence of training in Safeguarding
- Experience working within substance misuse, mental health or a similar field
- Understanding of the relevant legislation around substance misuse, children and families
Desired Skills
- Postgraduate qualification in drugs / alcohol
- Recognised counselling or equivalent
- ECDL or equivalent
