Southbourne Rubber, a leading manufacturer, are working in partnership with PETA to recruit and train a Sales Support Apprentice. This is a diverse role that will encompass the full scope of sales and administration.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, there will be the opportunity to move into a full-time role in sales, marketing, account management or business development. 

Training to be provided

Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard. You will complete a 15 month apprenticeship which includes 10 days at the PETA training centre in Cosham. You will be supported every 6 weeks with visits from your PETA Learning & Development Coach.

About the role 

The Sales Support Apprentice will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Answering customer enquiries, scheduling meetings and following up with customers about their order status
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers in person and via telephone calls and emails
  • Compiling a daily list of sales leads, delegating leads to the sales department, and providing sales data and guides to the sales department
  • Creating and processing quotations in a timely manner for submission to customer
  • Managing customer accounts, following up with customers for administrative purposes, and providing troubleshooting assistance for orders, account statuses, and other problems
  • Performing data entry tasks for sales figures, metrics, and other relevant information and maintaining an organized and accessible filing system
  • Handling administrative duties for the company and its executives and management teams
  • Scheduling customer meetings and conferences
  • Updating and performing relative activities on the companies CRM tool HubSpot
  • Ensuring all customer and supplier information is up to date
  • Providing any necessary data or reports to the sales team
  • Representing the company at sales conferences, exhibitions and customer meetings
  • Assisting with colleague activities in times of need e.g. illness & holiday

Monday to Thursday 08:00-17:00 with 1 hour lunch and Friday 08:00-13:00 (37 hours per week). We would encourage early submissions of applications, as these will be considered on receipt and suitable candidates invited for interview. Essential Skills

As this is an apprenticeship, no prior experience is required! However, the ideal Sales Support Apprentice will have the following skills:

  • Computer literature (Microsoft packages)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • A positive, confident and determined approach
  • Able to organise time, prioritise workload and ability to multitask
  • A high degree of self-motivation and ambition
  • Good administrative skills
  • Able work both independently and as part of a team
  • The capability to flourish in a competitive environment 

It is essential for you to have either GCSE English or maths with at least a grade C/4 and the other D/3.

Desired Skills

Applicants with grade D / 3 / functional skills level 1 will be required to complete functional skills level 2 in addition to the apprenticeship. 

It is also desirable for applicants to have a business and/or marketing qualification, or relevant experience. 

Academic qualifications can be less important than personality, attitude and abilities and a strong commercial awareness and excellent communication skills are particularly desirable attributes.
