As a Recovery Worker, you will be providing support and advice to people who are experiencing difficulties due to substance misuse. You will have your own caseload, working as part of our team and alongside other social care services to identify how we can help. You will develop plans with your clients to help them get their lives back to where they want them to be.

About this job

You will work as part of a team with the aims of:

  • understanding your clients 
  • keeping them safe
  • creating a plan that they can achieve with your support
  • checking in with them and reviewing their progress
  • keeping accurate and timely records of your contact with them
  • working effectively with other social care providers e.g. Housing, to cover all aspects of their successful recovery 
  • continuously learning and reflecting to improve the outcomes for your clients
  • supporting your colleagues across the service to deliver excellent care

You will be working within a highly skilled and knowledgeable multi-disciplinary team who will support you in your development and your ability to deliver the best care you can to our service users.

For this Recovery Worker role, you should have experience of working or volunteering within the substance misuse and voluntary sector.

We are looking for someone with exceptional team working skills but also able to work on their own initiative, who is able to maintain a network of local partner agencies to support and contribute to service user recovery capital and engagement.

Essential Skills

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • have attained SVQ level 3 in Social Services and Healthcare or equivalent
  • already be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or meet the registration requirements
  • have some experience of working in a health, social care, or related setting
  • have the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues alike
  • be able to work effectively in a team, supporting others when needed
  • be resilient under pressure and able to prioritise your work 
  • have good oral and written communication skills
  • be comfortable using IT and digital media
  • be organised and able to manage your time effectively
  • able to be flexible with your working hours on occasion
  • be happy to support other With You locations when needed

You will also need to meet our safeguarding requirements of a satisfactory enhanced PVG check as part of this Recovery Worker role.

Desired Skills

We’ll give your application priority if you:

  • have previous experience of working with people who misuse substances 
  • knowledge of health and safety, including assessing clients in high-risk situations
