We are world leaders and proud of our achievements – but to stay ahead we need the brightest and most talented innovators to join our development team and right now we are looking for a product owner with excellent agile product development skills to design the next generation of our digital preservation solutions. 

The Role

A key member of a geographically distributed team, the product owner will work with software engineers and product managers to design product functionality to meet overall product goals. Working as part of an Agile team to build high-quality and fully performing software across our cloud-based SaaS product range of Digital Preservation software.

Your work will extend to include: 

  • Breaking down feature requirements into user stories for engineers and tests to code using techniques such as feature mapping. 
  • Managing and prioritising the product backlog and ensuring the team is aligned to deliver maximum value through effective scoping and sizing of planned features. 
  • Working with UI/UX teams to understand the product’s users and ensure user interfaces are designed to make the product intuitive for all stakeholders to use. 
  • Working closely with developers and testers to review and accept newly developed functionality. 
  • Working with product management to release new features to the customer base and measuring their effectiveness. 
  • Evangelising writing effective, testable user stories to the rest of the team and other product owners. 

Our offices are in Abingdon, but this Product Owner role can be either office based or worked remotely in the UK.

  • Knows the fundamentals of being a product owner in a software development environment that is maturing in its Agile adoption.
  • Has a level of technical understanding that allows them to learn through technical documentation and communicate with software engineers about aspects of a solution.
  • Has had to manage competing priorities, think laterally to find the value in a difficult decision, and manage expectations of stakeholders.
  • Has worked in a larger product team with other product owners, product managers and a UX team to manage expectations of, and deliver, and ambitious product roadmap.
  • Can slot into an in-flight project and help deliver work with tight deadlines.
  • Recognises the need to learn enough about the product vision to align the development team on what its priorities are and why.

Desired Skills

We’re particularly interested in hearing from anyone who:

  • Has been involved in developing products that embed into Microsoft 365.
  • Has an understanding of digital records management or archiving.
  • Has previously worked with Gherkin syntax when writing user stories.
