Are you passionate about using your lived experience to make a difference to the lives of those using drugs and alcohol, reaching out to connect and support them? Do you want to champion and advocate for the benefits of our service? If you want to empower service users, with your own experience, to show your peers that change is possible, then this could be your perfect role!

The key deliverable in this role, is to champion for your peers, using your lived experiences to show that change is possible. You will be able to support service users and their families, and advocate for the benefits of the service.

 

We have multiple Casual/Sessional posts available with an hourly rate of £11.71 per hour, plus a £1.41 hols allowance, totalling £13.12 per hour.

Within this role, you will engage with individuals actively using opiates and at risk of overdose. Your resilience, and personal experience will allow you connect and support others. You will be a voice for change, showing what is possible with the right support. You will take responsibility for meeting with colleagues in partner organisations to explain the benefits of the service, and raise awareness with peers, and those individuals not yet using our service.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Personal lived / living experience of drugs or alcohol
  • Knowledge and compassion around the issues affecting people who use drugs or alcohol
  • Ability to develop relationships of trust whilst maintaining professional boundaries
  • Understanding of and ability to manage change successfully in a person led way
  • Awareness of and ability to promote all models of recovery

Desired Skills

  • Personal lived experience, for example, Criminal Justice, homelessness or mental health
  • Volunteering experience
  • Able to advocate for others
