Bolton Lads & Girls Club (BLGC) is an innovative, dynamic and progressive children and young people’s charity based in Bolton and we are looking to recruit a Multi Sports Worker to join the team.

As a permanent member of staff working part time as a Multi Sports Worker you will be paid £10.90 per hour. Hours available to be worked flexibly including regular evenings and weekends with the following benefits on offer:

About the role

Bolton Lads and Girls Club is aiming to recruit highly motivated, innovative Multi Sports professionals to the role of Multi Sports Worker.  The role will work with the Play and Youth Work Managers and existing staff and volunteer team to grow, develop, and deliver high-quality sports offer for children and young people.

Whilst directly delivering sports, you will provide professional coaching activities and recreational sessions which are progressive and develop key skills and interests in physical activity for children and young people in a way that is fun, engaging and developmental.

Main responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Sports Development Officer you will deliver high-quality diverse sports offer across BLGCs sites which is exciting, safe, challenging, and developmental.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the team to ensure that the activities and opportunities are tailored to specific needs and interests of the children and young people and that there is a consistency in quality of the offer and its delivery.
  • Ensure programmes meet the needs of the existing and new members, engages a diverse range of children and young people from across Bolton and support and encourage their active participation and continual development.
  • To deliver coaching sessions in a variety of sports using skills and knowledge from NGB training that applies to all foundation coaching for a multitude of different sports.
  • Ensure the sports delivery is carried out in a planned, systematic, coordinated and evaluated way.
  • Use sports activities in a way that promotes social, emotional, and physical development.
  • To work alongside play and youth workers and young leaders to plan and deliver activities.
  • To work flexibly to ensure the needs of our members are met, including disadvantaged children and young people and those with disabilities or additional needs.
  • To encourage and maintain positive behaviour during sessions.
  • To report any behaviours, conversations or comments which are inappropriate within a setting for children and young people.
  • To promote a positive image of the club throughout your work.
  • To ensure any volunteer is made to feel an integral part of the Bolton Lads and Girls Club ‘family’
  • To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be determined by the operational lead.

 

 

Essential Skills

Ideally you will hold a professional NGB qualification in sport or be working towards one. However, it’s absolutely key you have a passion for sport and can demonstrate an enthusiastic approach, with a keen desire to inspire children and young people to take part in physical activities. You will need to understand the health and safety issues that affect the day to day running of sports activities, and a flair for engaging young people and building positive relationships through role modelling behaviours.  A positive hands-on can-do attitude will be part of your natural style.
