The Logistics Development Manager is a pivotal role in the Oak Furnitureland Supply Chain Management Team. Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the Logistics Development Manager will lead projects and initiatives across Freight, Warehouse and Transport operations, supporting the continuous improvement of infrastructure, people, process, and systems capability.

An experienced and ‘hands on’ individual with a proven track record in defining and leading sustainable business change, instilling a ‘right first time’ mentality and championing a continuous improvement culture which positively and significantly impacts the performance of both the people and the organisation.

Collaborating directly with the Supply Chain Director and peers to create a short, medium and long term plan to deliver the wider strategic aims, with clear ownership, timescales and measurable deliverables.

Coordinating with Organisational Design and Heads Of to create the right organisational structure within Logistics to support growth. Building and developing a team of expert users from Warehouse and Transport operations to help develop, test and ultimately embed new systems and processes. 

Working alongside Logistics management, internal and external IT teams and other service providers, the Logistics Development Manager will blend analytical and project management experience with deep operational understanding. The cross functional nature of the role demands high levels of stakeholder engagement and management to ensure change is delivered efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the effective management operational change from tactical continuous improvement initiatives to cross-functional projects and strategic programme workstreams
  • Ownership and responsibility for the Logistics development roadmap
  • Identification of business improvement opportunities, development of change proposals and delivery of projects
  • Develop and build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers
  • Proactively challenge and support the warehouse operations to consistently achieve excellence
  • Provide support to the operations management team in delivering capacity, service and cost objectives
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously with ability to prioritise to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ensure all company Health and Safety policies are adhered to

  • Strong leadership skills with background demonstrating high level communication with key stakeholders
  • Demonstrable ability to manage projects to budget and on time
  • Drive and determination to consistently deliver excellent customer service
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Prince 2 / Six Sigma / Lean or equivalent accreditation preferable.
