As an IT Support Apprentice, you will provide routine IT maintenance and support for GW Net-working’s small business clients. You role will include managing Office 365 Users & licences, backups and Anti-Virus.

Training to be provided:

As an IT Support Apprentice, you will be studying towards a level three ICT Support Technician apprenticeship. This apprenticeship is 22 months in length and will involve ongoing onsite training and mentoring from the GW Net-working team combined with 25 days of off the job training at the PETA training centre in Cosham.

About the role:

As a IT Support Technician Apprentice, your duties include:

  • Routine IT maintenance and technical support for GWN’s small business clients, including:
    • Managing Office 365 user accounts & licences;
    • Monitoring backups;
    • Monitoring Anti-Virus software.
  • Creating and updating Helpdesk tickets from telephone calls, emails and alerts; including logging details of support activities in the Helpdesk system.
  • 1st line remote and telephone support:
  • Assist updating customer related technical documents and reports
  • Managing escalations of issues internally, as well as to 3rd party suppliers

– 40 hours per week
– Monday to Friday 8:45 to 17:15 (1h lunch).

Essential Skills

To be considered for this role, you don’t need any previous experience in the IT industry. As our ideal IT Support Technician Apprentice, you will require excellent communication skills and a good understanding of customer service. You will have a keen interest in IT and be eager to learn new skills. You will also require:

  • Knowledge of PC and laptop hardware, software and basic network troubleshooting
  • Great communication skills at all levels
  • Ability to solve problems in a logical way
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively
  • English and maths GCSE (Grade C/4 or above)

Desired Skills

  • BTEC L3 in IT or equivalent will be beneficial
