If you want to play a key, collaborative, role in the development of pathways, screening, and assessment, and to make it your mission to educate and advise health professionals, then joining our team as a Hospital Liaison Nurse could be your next role!

The Hospital Liaison Nurse is responsible for establishing a quality liaison service, developing inpatient and outpatient services for those with drug and alcohol related health needs, and working closely with A&E to provide early interventions.

This is a highly collaborative role, with responsibility for establishing a quality liaison service for clients. As well as providing care within hospital settings, the Hospital Liaison Nurse also provides community detox in the home and educates health professionals within inpatient and community settings.

You will have excellent communication and relationship building skills and will have a drive to establish and maintain a quality service. You will act as the expert in the field, providing advice, information, and education to service users and professionals alike.

A key part of the role is to support audits, oversee action plans, and provide written reports and audits when requested, so your attention to detail and ability to maintain up to date records and care plans will be well developed.

Essential Skills

  • NMC registered Nurse
  • Demonstrable experience at a senior level within a relevant health care setting
  • Experience working with those affected by problematic alcohol or substance use
  • Demonstrable ability to work constructively with a wide variety of groups and individuals in a range of settings and work roles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable experience of running clinics and group work
  • Experience of designing, undertaking, and leading in clinical audit and service improvement
  • Experienced delivering education sessions
  • Excellent IT skills

Desired Skills

  • Diploma level qualification in drugs and alcohol or relevant discipline
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent GP certification and RCGP Certificate Level 2 in Management of Drug Misuse
  • Demonstrable experience of facilitating both management and clinical supervision in an individual and group setting
  • Knowledge of Google Suite
  • Experience of working in a formal partnership with other organisations

  • NMC registered Nurse
  • Demonstrable experience at a senior level within a relevant health care setting
