If so, we have just the role for you.

We are currently looking to recruit two dynamic and enthusiastic Employment Advisor’s to support individuals affected by substance misuse by removing barriers through the delivery of a variety of work focused activities with progression into education, training and sustainable employment.

Ideally you will have worked in a health, social care and/or  criminal justice setting but this is not essential.   You must have experience of working with unemployed individuals, and have an understanding of the current welfare benefits systems. You will have excellent communication skills with experience of working alongside external organisations and partner agencies. 

In addition you must be organised and be able to manage your own workload, have knowledge of the local labour market and the ability to determine suitable employment and training  opportunities for individuals with complex needs.  You will be able to provide support through one to one advice and guidance  and in work support to ensure job retention.

This is a fixed term contract until 31 March 2023.

 

As an Education, Training and Employment Advisor, you will be working directly with our service users to help them navigate and achieve a pathway of opportunity in achieving employability. By providing valuable support in both a 1:1 and group setting you will play a key role in helping our service users build their confidence and transform their lives. By motivating and empowering the people you work with, you will equip them with the necessary skills to progress into education, training and sustainable employment.

You will develop strong and positive relationships by engaging, motivating and challenging our service users to fulfil their potential. You’ll also be experienced in working effectively with other professionals, key stakeholders and commissioners.

Essential Skills

  • Level 3 in Information, Advice and Guidance or equivalent
  • Successful track record of working with substance misuse service users 
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering employability advice, guidance and skills in the health, social care, criminal justice or other specialist settings
  • Experience and understanding of health and safety, including assessing high-risk situations for service users
  • Ability to build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Resilient. Able to prioritise and work under pressure 
  • Ability to support service users into sustainable employment and work placements
  • Flexibility of working times
  • Must be able to visit other locations from time to time in order to deliver the services required
