CPI Collector

Important work which involves visiting a selection of shops for two set days every month – always Monday and Tuesday. Use of a car preferable. No experience is necessary and full training will be given. Successful applicants will need to complete a successful DBS check.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the Government Department responsible for producing the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), the most commonly used measure of inflation in the British economy. Collectors from Kantar collect prices of goods and services for a wide range of the most commonly purchased items in over 140 locations across the United Kingdom and the ONS compares how this change over time.


  • To be available for the set 2 days in the month
  • To be able to travel to set locations
  • Access to email
  • Knowledge of computer/smart phone – Training will take place remotely on ‘Microsoft teams’.


  • Like being in shops as can be there for up to 6 hours at a time
  • Collecting data can be from other sites; pubs, garages, cinema etc
  • Experience of making buying decisions in all kinds of stores.


2 days each month plus meal allowance and 4 weeks holiday pay pro-rata. Paid travel expenses and bonus.
