Thank you for your interest in Hull Churches Housing Association.

Now is a particularly rewarding time to join Hull Churches as a Board Member – why?

In today’s world of fast-paced change and innovation our Board needs to play a more active role than ever before in overseeing strategy and risk management. Amid emerging technologies, climate change, workforce transformation and shifting consumer attitudes, the Board agenda is packed and the exciting opportunity of being a Board Member for Hull Churches Housing Association continues to shape and grow.

Hull Churches is a well-established and highly regarded Housing Association, with a strong performance. We are a small organisation that offers a targeted range of housing and support services to communities, in the Hull and East Riding area.  Our mission is to make a difference to people’s lives, and we are proud to do so.

We place great value on the contribution and insight our Board Members bring. The role of a Board Member is interesting and diverse, bringing responsibilities for shaping and developing strategy, monitoring, and improving performance and service delivery to our customers. Working closely with the Chief Executive and executive team, the Board help to uphold the values of the organisation and help us in our mission to make a difference to people’s lives.

Due to some current Board Members coming to the end of their formal term of office, we wish to recruit new Board Members with special interests particularly in finance, building safety and in adding value to our communities and ensuring good governance.

If you have some of these skills and want to develop them further by taking a Board Member role, we would really like to hear from you.

Remuneration

Board Members serve in a voluntary capacity and the Association currently makes no payment for this service.  Members may however claim for the following expenses incurred in the Association’s business:

  • Travel expenses to meetings and other events.
  • Cost of childcare or a carer for an adult for whom the member has responsibility.
  • Subsistence costs whilst attending external events.
  • Learning and development opportunities.
  • Support will be offered to enable Board Members to work remotely.

Thank you for your interest and we look forward to receiving your application for the Board Member role.
