Our Specialist Drug and Alcohol Service is recruiting for an Assertive Outreach Worker, to join them in providing support, information and advice to individuals in relation to substance misuse . If you are resilient and passionate, with a successful track record of working with substance misuse service users, we’d love to hear from you.

The postholder will work to improve access to appropriate services for service users with substance misuse issues, removing barriers to accessing services and reducing the harm associated with problem alcohol and drug use. As part of this role, you will undertake proactive and assertive outreach into the community to locate and connect with people who have stopped engaging with treatment and recovery services. You will manage an active caseload, providing structured brief interventions and/or other psychosocial and pharmacotherapy interventions in compliance with With You’s delivery model. A key part of this role will be to deliver continuity of care through effective partnership working, care coordination, delivery of interventions and key work responsibilities, supporting the day to day operation of services through the delivery of appropriate evidence based interventions.

This role is full time for 37.5 hours per week.

What we’re looking for

You will be qualified to SVQ Level 3 in Social Services & Healthcare or equivalent, with demonstrable experience of working in the health, social care, criminal justice or other specialist setting. You will be able to form meaningful working relationships with a range of stakeholders, along with the ability to connect quickly with the people we support who may be hard to reach. This is a busy team, with multiple priorities ongoing, so it’s important that you are highly organised and able to manage your time effectively. You will have sound knowledge and understanding of health and safety, including assessing high-risk situations for service users and the ability to promote recovery and treatment in the local community to grow service users engaging with With You . Essential Skills

  • SVQ level 3 in Social Services & Healthcare or equivalent
  • For applicable services – registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or meets the requirements for registration
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Demonstrable experience of working in the health, social care, criminal justice or other specialist setting
  • Successful track record of working with substance misuse service users
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety, including assessing high-risk situations for service users
  • Proven experience of engaging hard to reach and often resistant service users
  • Ability to promote recovery and treatment in the local community to grow service users engaging with With You
  • Ability to build effective relationships with a range of internal and external
    stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player
  • Resilient, wih the ability to prioritise and work under pressure
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • IT skills, including Google, and digital media
  • Organised and excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of: Group working; assessment, care planning and key working; issues affecting substance misusers; rehabilitation; Solution focused brief therapy and/or motivational interviewing
  • Flexibility with working times
  • Able to visit other locations from time to time in order to deliver the services
    required
